Welcome to the "Cabarita Beach - Pottsville Beach Lions Club"

Chartered on January 1st 1975 as the Cabarita Beach Lions Club, some 15 years later it was changed to include the Pottsville Beach area, situated on the Tweed Coast, Northern NSW, 20 kms south of the Queensland/New South Wales Border

Cabarita Beach is located on the coastal side of the village of Bogangar, which means "place of many pippies" in the local Bundjalung dialect. Surrounding the township are nature reserves of coastal rainforest with Lake Cudgen on its northern boundary.

Pottsville is south of the popular camping spot of Hastings Point. Bill Potts owned the first house in Pottsville around 1930 and the location was initially named Potts Point. Soon though, the town was renamed Pottsville to alleviate any confusion with the place of the same name in Sydney. Pottsville includes housing developments such as Koala Beach, Seabreeze and Black Rocks Estate.

Total population of the Bogangar / Pottsville area according to the 2011 Census is around 10,000.

Serving 2 communities some 8 km apart has its challenges. Our club has a long history of community involvement, and the enthusiasm of its members more than makes up for its size.

The club holds a Board Meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, and Dinner Meeting every 4th Wednesday. We welcome visits from other Lions who may want to check out some of the great scenic attractions the Northern Rivers has to offer.
